Project Mei School

Inspiration

Kabul Beauty School was established in 2003 with similar hopes of enriching the lives of impoverished women. Project Mei follows a similar format follows a similar model to Oasis, yet takes into the differences between Guizhuo and the Middle East. As the Oasis Foundation states,

“Teaching philosophy is based on a combination of advanced beauty techniques, sanitation, and utilization of modern products that honor and respect traditional cultural beauty approaches. The curriculum is hands-on to assure that the students learn in a relatively short period of time and enable students to progress from training to practice- from learning to doing.” Oasis Rescue

Project Mei School

The school set up a base in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhuo. Students can expect to learn how to cut, color, and style both men’s and women’s hair. Students will also receive lessons in skin care, makeup, and nail care. Following a Western hairstyling schools, we also provide students with lessons in sanitation, pathology, anatomy, and business. Students will learn how to assess their clients and provide a range of services. We then educate our students through lectures, textbooks, and provide them with the hands on training they need to develop their skills. Students further their training by participating in local weddings. Wedding ceremonies are a major part of Chinese culture. The students develop their skills and earn clientele by styling for wedding parties.  The school also functions as a working salon where local clients can receive all the amenities of a Western salon.

Final Vision

We want the local women of Guizhuo and surrounding regions establishes themselves as independent entrepreneurs. After attending our school students believe in their own capabilities and be able to make a better life for themselves.
